TIFFIN — Samantha “Sam” L. Gruss, 56, of Tiffin, passed away, Thursday, January 26, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH.
Samantha was born August 20, 1966, in Evanston, IL, to Robert and Dolores (Wellman) Wyatt. She grew up in Galion, OH, graduated from Galion High School in 1984, received her LPN from North Central Technical College in Mansfield, OH in 1985 and earned her RN Nursing Degree from Marion Technical College in Marion, OH in 1998. In 2002, she met Gary Gruss and on September 29, 2006, they married at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Riegel, OH. Together they raised 6 children in Tiffin, OH.
Samantha was a Registered Nurse and also worked as a clerk at the Seneca County Probate Court. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and thoroughly enjoyed traveling, spending time boating on the lake, and making memories with her friends, family, and grandchildren.
Sam has always celebrated life to the fullest. She would find a way to incorporate flamingos in all her décor or attire. Her favorite holiday was Halloween. Whether it was actually Halloween or not, costumes were always a good idea. Sam enjoyed live music and a good drink, but never the last few sips. She loved to host at the Channel Bar, serve “Stoli Salads”, and sit outside to gaze at the “moon” along the water. She always loved the idea of sunrise but was definitely more of a sunset girl. Sam was a Steelers fan in a house full of Browns fans, but together Sam and her family always cheered for the Calvert Senecas. She was a loyal and compassionate friend, daughter, mother, grandmother, and wife. She always held her loved ones close and knew the true meaning of happiness.
Survivors include her children, Sarah (Corey) Ruth of Chicago, Kathryn (Josh) Nagel of Attica, Erin (John) Henschke of Tiffin, Brian (Olivia) Gruss of Tiffin and Justin Gruss of Tiffin; her 7 grandchildren Emersyn, Bennett, Blake, Jameson, Gannon, Warner, and Hadley; plus, another on the way!
Samantha was preceded in death by her father, Robert Wyatt and son, Bryan Nickelson.
